Museums are the ultimate treasure trove of content.

We step into them to appreciate art, natural resources, and historical artifacts. We look, read, take photographs, and marvel at both human and natural creations.

Van Gogh, Degas, Latour, and Rodin were the original or OG content creators of yesterday, to name but a few. We revere and worship their work. They are immortal because of their content and how it inspires us.

Is Medium an immortal medium? Will our work float around in the cloud indefinitely? Or is their shelf-life only as long as the lifespan of its servers, where all our content resides? Will we be ‘out-of-sight, out-of-mind’ if and when Medium packs up? Even if Medium sticks around, will most of us be found and appreciated?

As a Medium writer visiting a museum the other day, many such thoughts struck me as I marveled at artifacts from the Jin (3rd — 5th century) and Tang (7th to 10th century) dynasties of China.
