It was 45 degrees Fahrenheit out, and there I was, bundled up and practically running on the sidewalk, desperately trying to get my errands done before Turkey Day, when…

I heard a loud thud on the other side of the road.

A middle-aged lady in a steel-gray parka had fallen to the ground. She wasn’t moving, and concerned citizens ran to her aid.

She stirred a little after a few seconds but looked terribly disoriented.

“Ma'am, are you okay?”

“How are you feeling?”

The crowd of people who would usually look over and keep walking, didn’t. They all stopped to help.

By now, the lady moved, but couldn’t seem to stand up by herself. Two men came forward and offered their hands. She held onto them and they pulled her up. She was visibly dizzy and looked around, confused as to what happened exactly. It looked like she had slipped on something.

“Ma’am, are you sure you’re okay? Do you want me to call you an ambulance?”

I couldn’t hear what she said, but she seemed to refuse any medical attention. Another man looked around to see if she had dropped anything. He grabbed her shopping bags and gave it to…
